UP asks Centre to clear pending proposals
ApnaBundelkhand.com, Lucknow:Uttar Pradesh government has
said that if the Centre decides to set up nuclear-power plants at
Narora,
Bulandshahr or Bundelkhand, then it would provide land, water and other
facilities for these plants.
"The state government has decided to
set up coal-based new power plants in UP. Proposals for providing coal
linkages
for Jawaharpur (Etah), Dopaha (Sonbhadra), Lalitpur and Yamuna
Expressway
projects have been pending with the Central government. Besides,
proposal for
allotment of six coal blocks have also been sent to the Centre,"
official
spokesperson of the state government said in a press release.
The
state government alleged that while the Centre has been installing 12
ultra mega
power projects in various parts of the country, none of these projects
were
being set up in UP.
The state government has urged the Central
government to give its nod for the construction of Taj international
airport
without any further delay as any delay in its construction, besides
increasing
traffic congestion, would hamper the efforts of the state government to
ensure
rapid development of infrastructure facilities.
Asking the Centre to
adopt constructive approach towards various development schemes related
with
education, energy, roads, transport and airports on the basis of
public-private
partnership (PPP), the UP government alleged that several PPP projects
related
with various infrastructure sectors were pending owing to the
indifference of
the Central government.
The press release stated that the state's
development cannot be given fillip as various projects have been pending
with
the Central government. The state government, release stated, had taken
initiative in the technical education sector and had been ensuring
setting up of
various vocational educational institutions on the basis of PPP but
awaiting
financial cooperation from the Centre.
The state government also
maintained that the Union government did not have any policy or
guidelines
regarding the PPP in the field of education. The ministry of human
resource
development, the state government said, had not taken any initiative to
ensure
setting up of polytechnics, degree level technical institutions, centres
of
excellence, secondary schools, degree colleges/universities on the basis
of PPP.
Further, the UP government requested the Centre to approve the
proposals for widening and strengthening of state highways which were
pending
with the union ministry for road transport and national highways.
