Rs 3760 cr state share in Bundelkhand package
ApnaBundelkhand.com, Bhopal: The Bundelkhand Package of
Rs 7266 crore sanctioned by the Government of India for the development
of Bundelkhand region falling under Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh
includes Madhya Pradesh's share of Rs 3760 crore. Of this share, Rs 2160
crore are earmarked for the schemes under implementation from earlier. A
total of Rs 1600 crore would be received as additional amount for six
districts of Madhya Pradesh. This amount is to be spent in three years. Further,
these funds would be spent on programmes pertaining to watershed area
management, irrigation, agriculture, animal husbandry, horticulture and
forest. The information to this effect was given at a meeting on
Bundelkhand Package chaired by the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan
at the Rajya Mantralaya, here today. The Chief Secretary, Avani Vaish
and Principal Secretary, Finance, GP Singhal also participated in the
meeting. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister Chouhan said that
several points in the Bundelkhand Package announced by the Centre are
not clear even today. There remains only two months in the current
financial year. During this period, proposals are to be sent to
different Union Ministries by the state and thereafter sanction will be
given from there, the Chief Minister pointed out. Chouhan instructed
the officers that information with regard to unclear points should be
obtained in the next meeting with the Centre. He also directed to submit
the suggestions regarding the other schemes necessary for the
development of Bundelkhand to the Union Government. The Bundelkhand
Package includes six districts namely Sagar, Damoh, Chhatarpur, Panna,
Tikamgarh and Datia of Madhya Pradesh. The package has to be implemented
in the three years including the current financial year.
