Jhansi is an administrative district of Uttar Pradesh with town Jhansi as the district headquarters. The district
is bordered on the north by Jalaun District, on the east by Hamirpur
and Mahoba districts, on the south by Tikamgarh District of Madhya
Pradesh state, on the southwest by Lalitpur District and on the east by
the Datia and Bhind districts of Madhya Pradesh state.
Jhansi city, the district
headquarters, is situated between the rivers Pahunj and Betwa is a
symbol of bravery, courage and self respect. It is said that in ancient
times Jhansi was a part of the regions Chedi Rashtra, Jejak Bhukit,
Jajhoti and Bundelkhand.The district is proud for Rani Laxmibai who had dedicated her life for the Indian freedom struggle.
