Banda

Banda, a district of Uttar Pradesh is located in the easternmost district of Bundelkhand. Banda district forms a part of Chitrakoot Division. The district is bounded on the north by district of Fatehpur, on the east by the district of Chitrakut, on the west by the district of Hamirpur and Mahoba and on the south by Satna, Panna districts of Madhya Pradesh.

The district derives its name from the headquarters town, Banda, which is said to have been derived from Bamdeo, a sage mentioned in Hindu mythology as an incarnation of Lord Rama. Bamdeo is said to have had his hermitage at the foot of a hill Bambeshwar near Khutla in Banda.

Kalinjar Fort, Bhuragarh Fort, Rangarh Fort, Khatri Pahar, Nawab Tank, Bamdeo Temple, Maheshwari Devi Temple, Four Stone Pillar at Kairada Village.

How to Reach

By Rail : Jhansi-Manikpur railway station is the nearest railhead to Banda.

By Road : The district of Banda is linked with roadways to all the adjoining districts of Kanpur, Allahabad, Chitrakut, Fatehpur, Hamirpur, Mahoba and the adjoining districts of Madhya Pradesh. The distance between Lucknow (State Capital) to Banda by road is about 219 km. State owned buses and private buses ply regularly between Banda and Lucknow.
