Mahoba

Mahoba district is one of the 70 administrative districts of Uttar Pradesh with its headquarters located at Mahoba town. The name Mahoba has been derived from 'Mahotsav Nagar', the city of great festivals.

Mahoba district is surrounded by Hamiprpur district in the North, Madhya Pradesh state in the South, Banda district in the East and Jhansi district in the West. It forms a part of Chitrakoot Division. The district is situated at the foot of a low granite hill called Gorakh-giri or 'Gokhar', an offshoot of the Vindhyas.
